BOT ELECTIONS:
IT’S IMPORTANT TO PARTICIPATE!
The Esplanade Board of Trustees’ Election takes place this fall coinciding with the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 18, at 7 PM on Zoom. This year three Trustees are up for re-election if they choose to run again. They are Bernie Aserkoff, M.D.,Val Bayley, and William Bendetson. The Board of Trustees, as the Esplanade’s governing body, has critical fiduciary, oversight, and strategic responsibilities and is accountable to the owners. Involvement by the owners is essential to the Board’s success.
The ECG encourages owners to participate fully in this important election process, by voting and even running for a Trustee spot. It is owners’ responsibility to make informed choices when deciding for whom to vote by being informed about the candidates’ experience and skills and participating—for example, asking relevant questions-- at Candidates’ Night on Tuesday, November 4, at 6 PM on Zoom. (Ballots, proxies, and candidates’ bios will be distributed to owners by the Board on October 17.) Owners can vote for their preferred candidates on their ballots directly or owners can vote by Proxy. If using the Proxy, give specific voting instructions to the person who exercises your Proxy so that your vote reflects your own choices.
The ECG also strongly encourages owners to consider running for a BOT position. To become familiar with issues of Board member eligibility for election, responsibilities, documents, and service, check out Building Link (https://www.buildinglink.io/ ). The BOT minutes, for example, are in the ‘Building Library’ section. You might also contact one of the Board members to ask about their Board experience and suggestions they have. If you think you have what it takes to add value to the BOT, please throw your hat in the ring!
